Questions
FAQ
When should I arrive?
Plan to arrive on the island Friday, April 23. There's an optional welcome party at the farm on Friday for anyone who'd like to come. Ferries from Anacortes take 65 to 90 minutes, and walking on is easy: most places to stay are a few minutes' walk from the ferry, and we'll have a shuttle to the venue on the wedding day. If you bring a car, reserve a spot as soon as reservations open in late February. See Travel.
When can I be at the farm?
This one matters. The venue only allows guests on the property during event hours: Friday 5 to 10 pm, Saturday 11 am to 11 pm, and Sunday 9 am to noon. Please don't arrive early or linger after. We'd love to have you the whole time, but it's the venue's rule and we have to honor it.
Where should I stay?
In Friday Harbor, about ten minutes from the farm. Book Friday and Saturday nights as early as you can; it's a small town and spring weekends fill up. See Lodging for places we like.
Is there parking?
Yes, the farm has about 40 parking spots for guests. We'll also have a shuttle running from downtown Friday Harbor to the venue on the wedding day, so you can leave the car in town.
What if it rains?
It might. Late April on the island has about a one-in-three chance of rain. The ceremony is planned for the meadow, and if the ground is wet we move into the Barn. Either way, bring a layer and shoes that can handle grass. We'll also have umbrellas on site.
What should I wear?
Dress code details are coming soon.
What is the weather like in April?
Cool and changeable, but drier than you might expect: the island sits in the rain shadow of the Olympic Mountains and gets noticeably less rain than Seattle. Expect highs in the mid 50s°F, lows in the 40s, wind off the water, and some sun between showers. Evenings get chilly, so we recommend a warm shawl or wrap for the ladies and a jacket for the gentlemen. We'll have umbrellas on site, and comfortable shoes for the farm are a good idea; heels sink in meadows.
Can I bring my kids?
Our wedding is adults only. Babies who aren't walking yet are welcome; otherwise, no guests under 18 unless we've specifically given permission.
Can I bring a plus-one?
Your invitation lists everyone in your party by name. If you have a plus-one, they'll be named on your invitation. We're keeping the guest list tight because of the island, so we aren't able to add guests beyond what's on the invitation.
Where are you registered?
On Zola. See Registry.
